What is the Third Eye Chakra?

It can also be referred to as the Sixth Chakra, Ajna Chakra, or Brow Chakra. It is associated with the color indigo and is symbolized by a lotus flower.

This chakra is connected to our pineal gland, which is responsible for regulating our sleep-wake cycles, or in other words our circadian rhythm. It governs our natural sleep/wake cycle, so when our Ajna is in balance, we are able to sleep soundly and wake up feeling refreshed and energized.

When this chakra is in balance, we have a healthy relationship with our intuition and can tap into spiritual insights.

The Third Eye Chakra is connected to our:

  • Intuition and imagination
  • Self-knowledge and perception
  • Mental clarity and wisdom
  • Psychic ability and spiritual awareness

The Third Eye Chakra is connected to our deepest thoughts and emotions, which can make it one of the more difficult chakras to access and work on.

The Ajna is often seen as one of the spiritual chakras, along with the Crown Chakra, and it is often referred to as our sixth sense. It is associated with the element of light, which is not surprising when you consider that the Third Eye Chakra acts as the light for our intuition and inner truth.

Working on opening this chakra will help us better understand ourselves, our emotions, and path in life.

Signs of a Balanced Third Eye or Ajna

The Sixth Chakra is the pathway to intuitive insight and spiritual growth, allowing you to see the world in a different light.

Signs that the Third Eye is open and balanced include:

Where is the Third Eye Chakra Located?

In the yogic and tantric traditions, the Ajna Chakra is said to be located in the center of your forehead, right above the bridge of your nose.

It is associated with the pituitary and pineal glands, which are responsible for producing hormones that regulate the human body’s growth and metabolism.

It is the sixth of the seven primary chakras in the body:
