What is Kundalini Syndrome?

Are you curious about what kundalini syndrome is? It is said to be the result of an abundance of spiritual energy running through your body, but what does this actually feel like?

While there is still much mystery surrounding it today, we’re here to give you insight into this syndrome and explain the different ways it can affect you.

Read on to learn more about kundalini syndrome – its symptoms, causes and potential remedies.

What is Kundalini?

To understand Kundalini Syndrome, you first need to understand the significance of kundalini. The concept of kundalini (it’s also referred to as kundalini spirit) originates from ancient tantric yoga traditions but it has since been adopted in other spiritual traditions.

Kundalini refers to the dormant life energy that lies within each of us. It is believed to reside at our Root Chakra, and it’s often represented as a coiled snake. When we undergo a kundalini awakening this dormant energy rises up through our centre, along each of the primary chakras right up to our Crown Chakra where it unites with universal energy.

The act of a kundalini awakening is a deeply spiritual experience which brings a sense of deep peace, love, and connection with ourselves and the whole universe. According to the spiritual healer Sadhguru:

“If kundalini rises, it unleashes a flood that wipes away your petty creations and leaves you as the Creator intended you to be.”

In order to undergo a Kundalini awakening all your chakras must be functioning as they should with no energy blocks or imbalances. That’s why it’s often a gradual process which takes time and patience.

What Exactly is Kundalini Syndrome?

Kundalini syndrome is a set of physical, emotional, and mental symptoms that can occur when you undergo a kundalini awakening.

Many people who undergo a kundalini awakening report some negative symptoms such as headaches or tiredness, but if you’re experiencing more severe symptoms than that it could be a sign that your kundalini energy has become off balance during the awakening process, leading to kundalini syndrome.

There are different interpretations of kundalini syndrome. Some spiritual teachers view it as a  natural occurrence in the physical body, while others view it as a mental illness that requires medical attention. That’s why it’s sometimes referred to as physio-kundalini syndrome because of the physical issues that accompany it.

A Kundalini awakening therefore needs to be approached very carefully so that it doesn’t lead to kundalini syndrome.

What Are the Risks of Kundalini Syndrome?

One of the most common side effects of kundalini awakening is a surge of energy that can create intense physical sensations, such as tingling, burning, or shaking. Many people also experience emotional challenges, such as anxiety, depression, or mood swings, as the process can unearth buried emotions and old trauma.

Additionally, some people report experiencing physical health problems if the awakening process is not properly managed. Proper preparation and guidance from an experienced spiritual teacher can help mitigate these risks, allowing for a safe and effective kundalini awakening experience.

What Are the Dangers of Developing Kundalini Syndrome?

There are several dangerous symptoms that some people experience as part of a kundalini syndrome, such as muscular pain and digestive issues, emotional issues like mood swings, depression and rage, and spiritual issues such as hallucinations.

These are obviously serious physical and emotional issues which can affect your entire wellbeing. It’s important to approach kundalini awakening and speak to a spiritual teacher or energy healer if you think you might be experiencing any of these dangerous symptoms.

But it’s important to note that not everyone will experience these kinds of issues and for many people kundalini syndrome will be nowhere near as serious.

What Causes Kundalini Syndrome?

Kundalini syndrome is a phenomenon that affects your cosmic energy flow, bringing to life a range of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual experiences.

The exact cause of this syndrome is not entirely clear, but some spiritual teachers believe that kundalini syndrome occurs when too much kundalini energy surges through the body too quickly, causing disruptions in the body’s bioenergy fields.

In order to benefit from the healing and enlightening benefits of a kundalini awakening, all the energy centers of the body need to be balanced and functioning in harmony so that energy can flow evenly through the body.

What Long Does Kundalini Syndrome Last?

If you’ve experienced kundalini syndrome, you may be wondering just how long it will last. To put it simply, it varies from person to person. Some individuals may only experience symptoms for a few weeks, while others may feel the effects for months or even years.

The duration of kundalini syndrome often depends on a few factors, such as the severity of the negative symptoms, your overall health, and the techniques you use to manage it.

However, it’s important to note that the length of time this syndrome lasts is not necessarily an indication of its seriousness or intensity. Despite the varying lengths of time it can take to recover from kundalini syndrome, it’s important to remain patient, open-minded, and committed to finding a solution that works best for you.

How to Treat Kundalini Syndrome

Kundalini syndrome can be a challenging body experience. The process of awakening can cause a range of physical and psychological symptoms, such as hot flashes, intense emotions, and even hallucinations.

However, there are ways to help alleviate the discomfort that comes with this transformative process, including:

  1. Chakra meditation: A deep meditation practice can help you regulate your emotions, rebalance blocked chakras and bring harmony back to your energy system.
  2. Physical exercise: Yoga postures and other peaceful movements can help release pent-up energy channels and reduce negative feelings and physical stress. Getting into nature can be particularly beneficial for clearing the mind and rebalancing your Root Chakra (the seat of your kundalini spirit).
  3. Breath Control Exercises: Mild breathing exercises such as Nadhi Shodhana can be used to relax the body, clear the mind and release excess stress and anxiety.
  4. Spiritual guidance: If you think you might be suffering from the extreme effects of kundalini syndrome, then it might be worth seeking help from a spiritual growth teacher, reiki teacher or therapist who can provide support and help you manage challenging emotions that arise with a kundalini awakening.
  5. Eat well and stay hydrated: Stock up on chakra healing foods like vegetables, fruits, grains and legumes. Remember to drink lots of water and avoid caffeine and alcohol.
  6. Rest: Get plenty of sleep so that your physical and energetic body can recharge.
  7. Self care: Take baths, use essential oils, listen to music, journal or chant affirmations – any form of spiritual practice that gives you positive feelings and helps to remove negative energy from your life can be beneficial.

With patience and persistence, it is possible to overcome kundalini syndrome and emerge from the mystical experience stronger and more self-aware than ever.

How to Protect Yourself From Kundalini Syndrome

There are several ways to protect yourself from kundalini syndrome.

First off, it’s essential to educate yourself about kundalini syndrome symptoms so that you can recognize them if they arise. It’s also vital to have a solid support system, whether it’s through friends, family, or a spiritual community.

It’s best to take things slowly when it comes to spiritual awakening and avoid practices that awaken Kundalini energies too quickly. Don’t run before you can walk. Work through each of the chakras and focus on removing blockages and stagnant energy before attempting to awaken your kundalini.
