What is the Sacral Chakra Frequency? (Sound Therapy for Chakras)

What is the Sacral Chakra?

The Sacral Chakra is the second chakra in the human body, located in the lower abdomen, just below the navel. It is also known as the Svadhisthana Chakra in Sanskrit, which translates to “one’s dwelling place”, in other words the home of our ego.

The Sacral Chakra is associated with the element of water, and is responsible for our emotional and creative expression. It’s what allows us to feel pleasure, enjoy life, and form healthy relationships. When the Sacral Chakra is balanced, we feel confident, creative, and passionate about life.

However, when the Svadhisthana Chakra is blocked or imbalanced, we may experience emotional instability, lack of creativity, and have difficulty forming or maintaining intimate relationships.

Some physical symptoms of an imbalanced Sacral Chakra include lower back pain, urinary tract infections, and sexual dysfunction.

The Sacral Chakra Frequency: Key Takeaway

The frequency for the Sacral Chakra is 417 Hz. Although it’s worth noting that there is a range of frequencies which can be beneficial for Sacral Chakra balancing, so experiment with what resonates for you.

Listening to audio tracks featuring the 417 frequency, like the one below, can be a great way to experience sound healing;

The Importance of Chakra Frequencies

Chakra frequencies refer to the specific vibrational frequencies associated with each chakra. When a chakra is balanced, it is in harmony and emits certain vibrations, which can be measured in hertz. For example, the Root Chakra frequency is 396 Hz. The frequencies associated with each chakra are believed to have a profound effect on our physical body, as well as our emotional, and spiritual well-being.

The concept of chakra frequencies is widely accepted in the alternative healing community, although interpretations vary. Helena Blavatsky, founder of the Theosophical Society, claimed to have received information about chakras and their associated frequencies from a group of spiritual masters in the late 19th century.

A slightly different interpretation of chakra frequencies was discovered by H. Cousto who came up with the New Chakra Vibrations, a European periodical system of Planetary Healing Vibrations, in the 1970s.

Another pioneer in chakra frequency research is Dr. Joseph Puleo. Dr. Puleo discovered the Solfeggio frequencies in the 1970s, which are believed to promote healing and bring the chakras back into resonance with their natural state.

The frequencies are part of the Solfeggio Scale which is made up of 9 core healing frequencies. The frequencies are single tones that can affect our brainwaves to promote positive healing benefits including relaxation and stress reduction, as well as increased intuitive abilities.

Chakra frequencies are believed to have a healing effect on the body. When our chakras are out of balance, we may experience physical and emotional symptoms such as pain, anxiety, and depression. By using sound therapy or other techniques to balance our chakra frequencies, we can alleviate these symptoms and promote positive emotions.

Understanding the Sacral Chakra Frequency

The Sacral Chakra frequency is believed to be around 417 Hz and it is associated with note D, which is in the range of alpha brain waves. This frequency is said to stimulate emotional stability, and promote creative energy.

The frequency of the Sacral Chakra is often used in sound healing and chakra meditation practices to balance and activate this energetic center. By using the frequency of the Sacral Chakra, it is possible to stimulate and balance this energy hub, promoting emotional healing, excitement for life and even spiritual awakening.

Alpha brainwaves are associated with a relaxed and meditative state of mind. Listening to music or sounds with a frequency of 417 Hz can promote healing and balance in the Svadhishthana Chakra, leading to increased emotional stability and creativity.

Solfeggio frequency 417 Hz carries a Sacral energy that inspires change. Some believe that this frequency can help with processing traumatic experiences and even destroying negative energies.

Vibration instruments such as singing bowls and gongs are used to create light waves of vibrations that are aimed at readjusting the mind and directing spiritual energies to our energy centers. They are often used by energy healers for this very reason.

What is the Seed Sound of the Sacral Chakra?

The seed mantra sound (also known as Bija) for the Sacral Chakra is Vam. Like the Solfeggio frequency 417 Hz, it is believed that chanting the mantra Vam, creates vibrational frequencies which are particularly good for Sacral Chakra healing.

What is the Vocal Tone for the Sacral Chakra?

Each of the primary chakras also have corresponding vowel sounds. When we say the vowel “ooo” out loud, our throat creates particular vibrations which correlate with the Sacral Chakra, just the same as when we say the mantra “Vam”. When we say these vowels and words, it directs the flow of energy to our Second Chakra.

Sound Frequency Therapy Tools

Anything that emits a sound can be used in sound frequency therapy. Some popular musical instruments include:

  • Tibetan Singing bowls
  • Gongs
  • Wind chimes
  • Pan flutes
  • Cymbal with hammers
  • Hang
  • Didgeridoo
  • Kalimba
  • Djembe
  • Drums

You don’t have to just use these sound therapy healing tools though – you can experiment with all kinds of instruments and forms of music.

Why not try out chanting or singing too using the Bija or vocal tone for the Sacral Chakra? There are also lots of 417Hz Solfeggio Frequency playlists on Youtube and Spotify which you can try out.

How to Practice Sound Healing for the Sacral Chakra

When using sound healing for the Sacral Chakra, it’s a good idea to look for instruments which emit a D note or a 417 Hz frequency as this is the frequency for the Sacral Chakra. This is by no means essential though – all kinds of deeper sounds and music can be beneficial to your Second Chakra.

Sound healing works particularly well when combined with other chakra healing practices like yoga or meditation.

Below we have a routine you can follow at home. In this routine we use a singing bowl and your voice, but you can just use your voice if you don’t have a singing bowl, or use a different instrument entirely.

Read our guide to using a singing bowl for chakra healing.

Instrument: Singing bowl

Mantra / Bija: Vam

Vocal tone: ooo

1. Find a comfortable sitting position on the floor. Place your singing bowl in front of you.

2. You can also burn a Sacral Chakra candle or place Sacral Chakra stones nearby to help focus your mind.

3. Set an intention for your practice, such as “I would like to connect with my Sacral Chakra”.

3. Take several slow breaths and feel your body begin to relax.

4. When you are ready, strike the rim of your singing bowl.

5. Close your eyes and listen to the reverberations. Feel the vibrations wash over your body.

6. Now chant the Sacral Chakra mantra “Vam”. Chant it 5 times and take note of the sound vibrations from your chest driving healing life force energy to your sacrum.

7. Pause after your final mantra and take a deep breath in.

8. As you exhale, say the Sacral Chakra tone “ooo”. Say it for the entirety of your out breath. Pause as you breathe in and then vocalize the tone again as you take a long breath out.

9. Once the vibrations have stopped, strike the singing bowl again. This time as you listen to the vibrations, imagine them sending healing positive energy to the location of your Sacral Chakra in your lower abdomen.

10. Repeat this sequence as many times as you feel comfortable. Each time you create a sound, direct the vibrational frequencies to your Sacral Chakra and visualize it becoming brighter and more energized.

Sound therapy is a powerful tool for redirecting the healthy flow of energy around our subtle body to support our chakras. The great thing about it is it’s so easy to add to your daily routine – you can simply say a few simple chants to create a sense of calm as you move through your day.

It can also help to induce a relaxed but energized physical and mental state which enables us to get the most out of other Sacral Chakra healing techniques like meditation or an asana practice.
