Which Planets Rule Which Chakras?

We’ve all heard of the seven chakras and the unique power they hold, but did you know that there are also planets associated with these chakras? Just like the planets in our solar system express their own energy fields, so do each of the seven chakras.

According to chakra astrology, when your planetary energies align with those of your chakras, you can achieve lasting transformation.

In this article, we explore which visible planets rule which chakras and what you can do to maximize the relationship between planets and your chakras for optimal spiritual growth.

What is the Connection Between Chakras and Planets?

Chakras are energy points within the subtle body (which encompasses our physical, mental and spiritual experience). Chakras have been used for centuries to explore a person’s spiritual self-discovery and connection with the universe. Each chakra energy is associated with a specific area of life and influences one’s health, emotional strength, and overall energy levels.

The chakra system isn’t purely physical – it represents the flow of energy between us and the universe. And that’s where the connection with planets and astrology come in.

As we’ve discussed before, our chakras are connected with zodiac signs (we each have a power chakra based on our zodiac sign). They are interlinked through the elements – both chakras and zodiac signs are connected to the fundamental elements of the universe – water, fire, earth, and air.

Zodiac signs have ruling planets and so do chakras. Each chakra ecompasses the characteristics and nature of its ruling planet. We have an astrology chakra chart below which shows how the chakras, zodiac and planets all align to form our astral body.

The Chakras and Their Planets

Let’s have a look at the seven key chakras and their associated planets in astrology:

Root Chakra: Saturn and Mars

The Root Chakra (also known as the Muladhara Chakra) is one of the seven main energy centers of the body. It is associated with stability, security, and grounding energy. The color associated with this chakra is red. This chakra is represented by two planets: Saturn and Mars.

Saturn is the planet of structure, authority, responsibility, boundaries, and limits. It is associated with the physical realm such as our material possessions and survival instinct. Saturn provides structure and a foundation upon us to build.

Mars is the planet of energy, action, assertiveness, ambition, drive, and willpower. Mars connects us with our primal instincts of self-preservation and helps us take action in order to achieve our goals. This energy helps us move forward and make progress toward our ambitions.

Together, these two planets bring solidity, strength, confidence, and determination to the Root Chakra. When balanced, they provide stability in spiritual life while still allowing for growth and exploration into new areas. This balance allows us to be grounded enough to take action but also flexible enough to adapt to changing circumstances.

When the Root Chakra is out of balance, we lose our sense of security and experience fear, insecurity, and instability. It can manifest as physical issues such as lower back pain or digestive problems. To restore balance to the Root Chakra, it’s important to focus on developing stability and grounding while also taking action toward one’s goals.

Meditating on the color red can help restore balance in this area. Working with crystals such as Hematite, Red Jasper, or Obsidian may also be beneficial.

Sacral Chakra: Jupiter, Venus, and Pluto

The Sacral Chakra is associated with the planets Jupiter, Venus, and Pluto because these planetary energies are believed to directly influence this chakra. The energy of Jupiter is thought to bring good luck, abundance, and growth, while the energy of Venus promotes creativity, beauty, and harmony.

Pluto’s energy provokes deep transformation by allowing  us to tap into our intuitive power. These three planetary energies work together to create a balanced healthy Sacral Chakra that can help us fulfill our desires and manifest our dreams.

When our Sacral Chakra is blocked or unbalanced, it can manifest in feelings of guilt and shame, difficulty with relationships, intimacy issues and lack of creativity. To keep the Sacral Chakra in balance, it’s important to practice activities that stimulate creativity such as making art, spending time in nature, and exploring different cultures.

It’s also important to cultivate healthy relationships both romantic and platonic that are filled with love and support. Lastly, take some time each day to check in with your intuition by meditating or journaling – this will help open up new pathways of understanding within yourself. By practicing these activities along with being mindful of the energy associated with the Sacral Chakra, we can create a balanced and healthy life.

Solar Plexus Chakra: The Sun and Mars

The Solar Plexus Chakra (also known as the Manipura Chakra or 3rd Chakra) is the third primary chakra in the energy body, located between the navel and rib cage. It is associated with the Sun and Mars energies, representing confidence, self-discipline, ambition, and leadership. The Solar Plexus Chakra helps us to take action and follow through on our goals.

When this chakra is balanced we can use our personal power effectively. We can take decisive steps forward to manifest our dreams into reality.

An imbalance here could lead to feelings of fear or lethargy which blocks us from making progress. With proper meditation practices and visualization, the Solar Plexus Chakra can be brought back into balance.

The Sun’s energy helps to motivate us and gives us a sense of purpose, while Mars gives us determination and courage to take on difficult tasks. Together they help us develop our leadership skills and make sure we are always taking action to reach our goals.

They also give us the strength to assert ourselves. With our Solar Plexus Chakra in balance, we can freely express ourselves without fear or hesitation. We will have the tools necessary to build a life that reflects our highest potential.

Heart Chakra: Venus and the Moon

The Heart Chakra is the fourth primary chakra. It is associated with our capacity to give and receive love, forgive, empathize, and experience joy in life. The two astrological symbols that are closely linked to the Heart Chakra are Venus and the Moon.

Venus represents feminine energy; love, passion, pleasure, and beauty. It governs relationships of all kinds including self-love. The Moon symbolizes fluidity, growth, receptivity, and healing; it also reflects our emotional intelligence as humans.

Together these two celestial bodies work together to create a sense of balance in our emotions when we activate this chakra. When we open up our heart center through self-love, compassion, meaningful connections, and being present at the moment, we can experience a deep sense of joy in our lives.

The Heart Chakra is an incredibly powerful energy center that can not only help us unlock our full potential but also create connection and healing between ourselves and others. By bringing together the energies of Venus and the Moon, we can open up new possibilities to heal and grow. Invoke this chakra for a deeper understanding of love, connection, joy, and balance in your life.

Throat Chakra: Mercury

The Throat Chakra, or Vishuddha, is associated with the planet Mercury. This chakra is located at the base of the throat and is responsible for communication, self-expression, and individual truth.

Mercury is a planet of self-expression and authentic communication, just like the Throat Chakra which is connected to purity of thought and speech as well as mental clarity. The Throat Chakra can be balanced and empowered by engaging in activities that stimulate creative expressions such as writing or singing. Practicing meditation techniques that help calm the conscious mind and unconscious mind can also help open up this chakra and allow more light to flow through it, thus creating balance within all aspects of one’s life.

Gemstones such as turquoise or blue lace agate can be used to further aid in the balance of this chakra.

The Throat Chakra is a powerful tool that can be utilized to express oneself in an authentic and meaningful way. When this energy center is balanced, one will feel confident speaking their truth and being heard, as well as having the capacity to take on leadership roles within their community or workplace. Ultimately, it encourages deep listening skills and allows for more understanding among others.

When out of balance, one may find themselves feeling frustrated or blocked when it comes to expressing themselves or they may experience physical ailments like sore throats, sleep disorder or stiff neck muscles. It is important to keep this chakra in check so that one can live openly with honest communication and understanding.

Third Eye Chakra: Saturn and Neptune

The sixth chakra is the Third Eye Chakra, also known as the Ajna Chakra. It is associated with the two planets Saturn and Neptune. This chakra is said to be the center of spiritual enlightenment and insight. It is located between the eyebrows and is symbolized by a lotus flower with two petals.

Saturn is the planet of responsibility. It represents boundaries, structure, responsibility, and discipline while Neptune represents imagination, dreams, and spirituality. The combination of these two energies allows one to create structure in order to manifest spiritual ideals into reality.

When this chakra is balanced it helps us in seeing life from a higher perspective; understanding our purpose on earth, connecting us to our intuition, enhancing personal insight, releasing fear-based beliefs, and finding inner truth. Imbalances in this chakra can cause confusion, fear of the unknown, and disconnection from our intuition.

Through meditation, visualization, and yoga we can open up the Third Eye Chakra, allowing us to be more conscious and present with life. By connecting to its energy we are able to understand deeper realities that exist beyond our physical strength. As the Third Eye Chakra is balanced, it allows one to connect deeply with their inner voice; live a fulfilled life, and know their true potential.

The power of the Third Eye Chakra lies within its ability to connect us with our higher self and promote spiritual evolution. Balancing its energies will not only help you on your journey towards enlightenment but bring greater clarity into all aspects of your life.

Crown Chakra: Jupiter and Uranus

The Crown Chakra (also known as the Seventh Chakra or Sahasrara Chakra) is associated with the planets Jupiter and Uranus. The two planets represent different aspects of the Crown Chakra – Jupiter is associated with spiritual understanding, while Uranus symbolizes higher awareness and the ability to overcome mental blocks. Both these energies work together to open up the Crown Chakra, granting a sense of connection to the divine and greater insight into one’s everyday life purpose.

A balanced Crown Chakra helps us to experience oneness with all of creation. It allows us to draw upon our inner wisdom and gain access to spiritual insights which can be used to guide our lives and bring about positive change in ourselves, our environment, and ultimately, humanity as a whole.

Jupiter is the planet of expansion – it provides us with deep wisdom and understanding, allowing us to expand our spiritual knowledge and open up to higher realms of consciousness. It is Jupiter’s energy that helps us become aware of our connection with the divine and opens up a doorway to greater understanding.

Meanwhile, Uranus symbolizes liberation from mental blocks and limitations we’ve created for ourselves. With this planet’s energy, we are able to tap into our innermost truths and see beyond the mundane. Uranus grants us access to powerful insights which can help guide us onto paths of healing and transformation. By balancing both these energies within the Crown Chakra, we can find clarity in life and foster our ability to stay connected with the divine realm at all times.

The Significance of Chakras in Astrology

Astrology is an ancient practice that focuses on the study of celestial bodies and how they interact with and influence our lives. Chakras are energy points located in our physical and energetic bodies – connecting us to the power of the universe.

Astrology and chakras are all part of the same energetic system – they are fluid and ever changing. Each of us has a birth chart or a natal chart which provides an overview of our cosmic energy and how it interacts with the world around us, depending on when we are born. Through a knowledge of astrology and our respective chakras, we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and use this knowledge to move forward on our journey towards enlightenment.

By studying the significance of each chakra within astrology, we can gain insight into how our life experiences shape us, how to best nurture our self-growth and development, can get a strong sense of direction and when to step into action.
